Annual General Meeting
19 August @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm AEST
Our annual dinner and AGM, followed by a guest speaker, will be held at the Yorkshire Stingo Hotel on Tuesday 19 August. Our guest speaker will be Dr Bart Ziino from Deakin University on the topic:
Enlisting and Resisting: Why did Australian men decline to enlist in the Great War?
While more than three hundred thousand Australians volunteered to serve overseas during the Great War, even more declined to volunteer. Focusing on the responses of Collingwood, Abbotsford and Clifton Hill men to the federal government’s 1916 ‘Call to Arms’, this presentation will offer a rare insight into how men and their families negotiated the ever-increasing demands of the nation at war and concluded that their duty lay closer to home.
More details coming soon. Note that bookings will be required for both the dinner and the meeting.
