From the 1850s the Yarra in Abbotsford attracted a number of industries which needed a water supply and a drainage channel. We have added four new Notable entries describing enterprising industrialists who contributed to local prosperity and employment while creating air and water pollution. They are wool scourer Peter Nettleton, soap and candle maker Henry Walker, and German brickmakers Augustus Fritsch and Robert Dehnert. These join tanners Robert Flockhart and James Hayman, and fellmonger Jesse Fairchild, whose biographies were added to the Notables database some time ago.
