This year’s History Walk – ‘A Collingwood Corner’ – will look at the area bounded by Victoria Parade, Smith Street, Cambridge Street and Peel Street. This area was settled and subdivided early in the history of Melbourne’s colonisation, has seen many changes over the years, and in the last decade has seen a dramatic transformation in building heights and density. We will start outside one of Melbourne’s oldest surviving hotels, The Grace Darling, on the corner of Smith Street and Peel Street, at 2 pm.
The Walk will finish about 4 pm at the same place, where we can take refreshments and continue chatting informally about Collingwood history.
Attendance is free for CHS members, $10 for non-members. Cash only. Please pay with a $10 or $20 note, not coins.
NOTE: No dogs (except assistance dogs), no smoking, no vaping. Don’t forget sun protection.
