Update December 2018: the name was rejected at State government level because it is too similar to Randall Place in North Melbourne. Previously suggested names were re-considered at the council meeting on 4 December.The decision was made to name it Montalto Place, after Joe Montalto who for many years ran a business bordering Stanley Street and the laneway.
